Tammy Petrucelli Named Director of Academic Affairs and Student-Athlete Development

Sacred Heart University Executive Director of Athletics Bobby Valentine announced today the hiring of Tammy Petrucelli as the new Director of Academic Affairs and Student-Athlete Development. Petrucelli comes to the Department of Athletics from the Career Development Office of Sacred Heart University.

“I’d like to thank Bobby and Brad for the opportunity to join the Pioneer Athletic family,” said Petrucelli.  “I’m excited for the next step and a chance to work with our student-athletes, coaches, faculty and administration.  I’m committed to helping with the academic, personal, and career development of our student-athletes, so they can achieve their true potential and life’s goals.”

Petrucelli will oversee the academic progress of nearly 800 Pioneer student-athletes on an annual basis.  Along with her staff, she will advise the student-athletes on balancing academic, athletic and personal challenges throughout their careers at Sacred Heart.

A graduate of American International College, Petrucelli joined the Career Development Office in February 2011 as the Assistant Director of Placement for the College of Arts and Sciences and was promoted to Director, August 2013. In her role, she provided counseling to SHU students in identifying majors and career paths that align with the student’s goals, interests and values.  Petrucelli was active in establishing relationships with numerous employers and agencies, as well as with on campus constituencies, to best serve the career endeavors of Sacred Heart students. Prior to joining the Sacred Heart staff, she spent 15 years in a variety of roles with Enterprise Rent-A-Car, including seven-years as a Regional Recruiting Manager.
