FAIRFIELD, Conn.— Fourty-seven Sacred Heart University student-athletes were named to the 2016-17 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Honor Roll as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
The Pioneers, who compete in compete in field hockey and women's rowing led the MAAC associate members once again with its 47 honorees. The SHU rowing team was represented with 30 student-athletes and the SHU field hockey team had 17 student-athletes honored for their work in the classroom.
A total of 2,273 student-athletes from the 11 full-time member institutions and 15 associate members were named to the 2016-17 MAAC Honor Roll. To be eligible for the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The Honor Roll is open to both full-time and associate members in the MAAC. All 24 sports that the conference sponsors are represented.
