SHU Equestrian Plays host to Delaware State and Travels to UMass and Wesleyan

On Saturday November 6, 2010 the Sacred Heart University western team competed in a double show at the University of Massachusetts.  All riders received high placing with freshman Maggie Vogel (S. Acsworth, NH), juniors Kara Fidler (Marshfield, MA) and Alyssa Woronik (Salem, CT) and senior Janel Beauregard (Cumberland, RI) winning their classes.  Beauregard also qualified from regionals on the day.

The SHU english team also competed at an IHSA show hosted by Wesleyan University at Windcrest Farm in Hebron, CT.  Out of the nine riders who competed at the show four won their classes led by senior Julie Law (South Kingston, RI), junior Brian Buchanan (Troy, NY), and freshman Arielle Pagano (West Islip, NY) and Allison Buccos (East Moriches, NY). 

On Sunday November 7th the Pioneers hosted the Delaware State equestrian team for their first NCAA show of the season at Rivers Edge Farm in Bethany CT. Although Delaware State edged out Sacred Heart, returning members Beaurgard, Woronik, and sophomore Molly-Kate Carven (Amesbury, MA) all provided fierce competition, with Woronik winning her point in Horsemanship. Freshman Vogel preformed well with in her first NCAA competition.

The English team competed in equitation on the flat and fences with Law winning both her points and junior Abbie Britton (Hoover, AL) winning equitation on the flat.
