  • Pioneers Finish Third at IHSA Zone 2 Championship

    The Sacred Heart Equestrian team traveled to Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY to compete in IHSA Zone 2 Championships. The judge for the day was Scott Hofstetter of Ocala, Florida. Competing for the SHUET in Individual competition were sophomore Allie Buccos in Novice Flat, placing ninth, and freshman Cortney Sevigny in Novice Fences, placing fourth.
  • SHU Rides at IHSA Regional Championships

    The Sacred Heart Pioneers traveled to scenic Mystic, Ct. last weekend to compete at IHSA Regional Championships hosted by Connecticut College at the Mystic Valley Hunt Club and judged by Lesley Woodworth. Six members of the Pioneers qualified to compete in individual competition.
  • SHU's Buchanan Rides at IHSA Western Semifinal

    Senior Brian Buchanan (Troy, NY), accompanied by Head Coach Tiffany Hajdasz and Assistant Coach McAllister, travelled to Findlay Ohio to compete in IHSA Western Semi Final Championships hosted by the University of Findlay. Buchanan competed against 13 athletes in the Advanced Horsemanship class.
  • The Equestrian Team Makes History for the Second Time this Season

    The Sacred Heart Equestrian team made history earlier this season when they posted the program's first-ever perfect score at the Wesleyan University IHSA competition on November 12, 2011. The team made history again this past weekend when for the first time in the program's 20 year history, the Pioneers won a Regional Title.
  • Senior Brian Buchanan Qualifies for IHSA Western Semifinals

    Sacred Heart senior Brian Buchanan will be traveling to the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio on March 24th to compete in Advanced Horsemanship at the IHSA Western Semifinals.

  • Pioneers Compete in IHSA Competition at CCSU

    On a cold day with glimmers of sunshine and a blustering wind the Sacred Heart Equestrian Team traveld to Windcrest Farm in Hebron, CT to compete in IHSA competition hosted by Central Connecticut State. The judge for the day was Ann Jamieson. The Pioneers had a successful day with senior Abbie Britton placing fourth in the Open Flat and junior Devan Beaulieu placing sixth in the event.
  • Pioneers Take on South Dakota State and Compete in Zone 2, Region 5 IHSA Competition

    On a beautiful spring like day on February 19th, the Sacred Heart Pioneers took on Fairfield University & Zone 2, Region 5 in IHSA competition and also hosted South Dakota State University in NCEA competition.
  • Pioneers Compete in IHSA Event at Coast Guard Academy

    The Sacred Heart University Equestrian Team traveled to Mystic Valley Hunt Club in Gales Ferry, CT to compete in an IHSA competition hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Feburary 4th. In Open Fences, Senior Abbie Britton placed 3rd, while both Senior Brian Buchanan and Sophomore Jocelyn Alfieri placed 5th in their section. Senior Adrianna Dattoli and Sophomore Allie Buccos placed 2nd in their section of Intermediate Fences. In Open Flat, Dattoli and Junior Devan Beaulieu placed 4th and Britton placed 2nd. Buccos took 1st place in Intermediate Flat.
  • SHU Western Teams in Action Over the Weekend

    The Sacred Heart University equestrian western team was in action on Saturday February 11th, competing in two competitions at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA. Junior Emma Joseph started the competition for the Pioneers earning 2nd place in the walk-jog class.
  • Pioneers Compete at Delaware State

    On January 28, 2012 the Sacred Heart University Equestrian Team travelled to Delaware State University in Dover DE to compete in NCAA competition. Sacred Heart started off the day strong with Senior Abbie Britton and Freshman Cortney Sevigny both winning their points in Equitation Over Fences.
  • Pioneers to Participate in the 3rd Annual Collegiate Equitation Challenge

    The National Collegiate Equestrian Association (formerly Varsity Equestrian) is pleased to announce the 3rd Annual Collegiate Equitation Challenge to be held at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL. The finals of the event will take place on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the International Arena of the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center.
  • National Collegiate Equestrian Association Created
    January 10, 2012
    In effort to further advance equestrian to a NCAA championship sport, the entity formally known as Varsity Equestrian has established an association to become the voice for the sport of equestrian within college athletics. The National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) was founded to be the catalyst for growth of varsity level equestrian competition.
  • SHU Equestrian Ends Fall in First Place

    The Sacred Heart Equestrian Team remains in first place after the last competition of the fall semester. After competing at UConn on November 19th, the team ended the fall semester 19 points ahead and has set their sights high for the remaining competition season.

    The Sacred Heart University Western Equestrian Team traveled to University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA on November 12th for an IHSA Western show.
  • Historic Day for SHU Equestrian at Wesleyan

    It was a special day for the Pioneers, but as they stepped onto Wesleyan’s home turf in the morning, they had no idea just how special it was going to be. The show started strong when senior captains Brian Buchanan and Abbie Britton won their open jumping and open flat classes in convincing fashion, keeping the pioneers at a perfect score of 14 through two classes.
  • Equestrian Team Hosts New Mexico State University and Southern Methodist University

    The Sacred Heart University Equestrian Team played host to New Mexico State University on Thursday, October 20th and Southern Methodist University on Sunday, October 23rd, both at the River’s Edge Farm in Bethany CT.
