FARIFIELD, CT - The Sacred Heart Equestrian team traveled to Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY to compete in IHSA Zone 2 Championships. The judge for the day was Scott Hofstetter of Ocala, Florida. Competing for the SHUET in Individual competition were sophomore Allie Buccos in Novice Flat, placing ninth, and freshman Cortney Sevigny in Novice Fences, placing fourth.
As the Zone 2 Region 5 Championship Team, SHUET sent six athletes to compete in the team competition. Senior Abbie Britton placed fourth in both Team Open Fences and Team Open Flat. Freshman Cortney Sevigny placed fifth in Team Intermediate Fences. Sophomore Allie Buccos placed fourth in Team Intermediate Flat. Freshman Alison Brosky placed third in Team Novice Fences and second in Team Novice Flat. Freshman Sara Scorpa placed second in Walk/Trot/ Canter and junior Amelia Skerys placed fourth in Walk/Trot.
The Pioneers finished the team competition in third place, while the top-two teams advanced to National Championships.
