SHU Equestrian Western Riders Wrap-Up Fall Semester at Mount Holyoke

FAIRFIELD, CT - The Sacred Heart equestrian team competed in their final IHSA Western Competition of the fall semester at Mount Holyoke College on December 1st.  The Pioneers competed in a pair of shows and had junior Danielle Belson (Westhampton Beach, NY) qualify for IHSA Western Regional Championships in Intermediate Horsemanship at the event.

In the first event of the day, Belson claimed second in the Intermediate Horsemanship.  Junior Allison Buccos (East Moriches, NY) was first in Intermediate Horsemanship while freshman Samantha Genise (Freehold, NJ) was first and junior Arielle Pagano (West Islip, NY) was fifth.

Junior Margaret Vogel (S. Acworth, NY) was first in Novice Horsemanship while senior Molly-Kate Craven (Amesbury, MA) was third in Advanced Horsemanship.

In the second show of the day, Genise and Pagano earned first place finishes in Intermediate Horsemanship while Buccos was second.

Vogel was third in Novice Horsemanship while Belson took a fourth in Novice Horsemanship.  Carven finished sixth in Advanced Horsemanship. 

The Pioneers Western team will next ride on February 9th at Mount Holyoke College.
