Pioneers Compete in Final IHSA Hunt Seat Show

GALES FERRY, CT (February 17, 2013) – The Sacred Heart equestrian team competed in their final IHSA Hunt Seat show of the regular season at the Mystic Valley Hunt Club, hosted by Connecticut College and USCGA.

The Pioneers finished with 30 points as a team, finishing behind Connecticut College and Fairfield, who tied for the high point team with 36 points, and UConn who tallied 33 as the reserve high point team.

Junior Marget Vogel (S. Acworth, NH) grabbed a first place finish in the Novice Flat, finishing the season with first or second place finishes in the five hunt season competition.  Freshman Katie Gray finished the regular season on a hot streak, winning her third first place in the Novice Flat in her last four competitions. 

Senior Devan Beaulieu (Ludlow, MA)  finished second in the Open Flat, and  was just shy of qualifying for the IHSA Zone 2 Region 5 Championships.  She also finished sixth in Open Fences.   In Intermediate Flat, sophomore Alison Brosky (Manhasset, NY) continued her winning ways placing first after pointing up from Novice Flat the day before.

Senior Ameila Skerys (Sag Harbor, NY) finished second in W/T/C  in her first time competing after pointing up from W/T the day before.  Freshman Noelle Bianculli (Ramsey, NJ) took fourth in the Novice Flat competing in her first IHSA competition.

In the updated Zone 2 Region 5 season point totals, the Pioneers have 259 points and trail UConn with 322 points.
