HEBRON, CT (February 9, 2013) – The Sacred Heart Pioneers finished as the reserve high point team at the IHSA Hunt Seat competition held at Windcrest Farm hosted by Wesleyan University.
The Pioneers finished with 30 points as a team, placing behind UConn who took high point team honors with 40 total points.
Three riders qualified for the Zone 2 Region 5 Championship at the event in seniors Ameila Skerys (Sag Harbor, NY) and Meagan Korolyshun (Derby, CT) and sophomore Alison Brosky (Manhassat, NY). Skeyrs finished second in the W/T, Korolyshun took second in the Novice Flat and fifth in the Intermediate Fences while Brosky took fifth in the Novice Fences.
Sophomore Ashley Alaimo (Rockville Centre, NY) took home a win in the Novice Fences, showing her hard work in practice all season has paid off. Freshman Katie Gray continued to place at the top of the class, taking first in the Novice Flat and second in the Intermediate Fences. She has finished first or second in Intermediate Fences all season.
Fellow freshman Noelle Bianculli (Ramsey, NJ) continued to show promise, finishing in the top-two in both her performances in Novice Fences this season.
Freshman Drew Sangster (Ridgefield, CT) collected a first place finish in the Novice Flat. Junior Margaret Vogel (S. Acworth, NH) took second in the Novice Flat while fellow junior Jocelyn Alfieri (Darien, CT) was fourth in the Open Flat and fifth in Open Fences.
Senior Devan Beaulieu (Ludlow, MA) took fifth in the Open Flat and sixth in the Open Fences. Sophomore Natalie Cafasso (Derby, CT) was fourth in Novice Flat and second in Novice Fences while classmate Taylor DiBella (Holmdel, NJ) was third in Intermediate Flat.
