Sacred Heart High Point Team in Season Opener

SOUTHBURY, CONN (October 5, 2013)—The Sacred Heart equestrian team was the high point team  with 45 points at the season opener for Hunt Seat IHSA Z2R5 last weekend at the Rolling M Ranch in Southbury, Conn. Freshman Melissa Yacubich (Shoreham, N.Y.) was the high point rider of the competition after coming in first in Novice Fences and Novice Flat in her collegiate debut.

Sara Ann Scorpa (Lanesboro, Mass.) qualified for the IHSA Regional Championship in Walk/Trot/Canter after taking first place in the event. Katie Gray (Colchester, Vt.) snagged two first place ribbons in Intermediate Fences and Novice Flat. Jocelyn Alfieri (Darien, Conn.) took home the team's other first place finish in Open Fences, and also took fourth in Open Flat.

Brianna Formicola finished second in Walk/Trot in her collegiate competition debut. Allison Buccos (East Moriches, N.Y.) and Taylor DiBella (Holmdel, N.J.) both finished second in Intermediate Flat, while Natalie Cafasso (Derby, Conn.) and Rebecca Salberg (Rockaway, N.J.) took third in the Novice Fences, and Noelle Bianculli (Ramsey, N.J.) was third in Novice Flat.
