Pioneers High Point Team Saturday; Improve to 3-0

GALES FERRY, CONN. (October 19, 2013)—The Sacred Heart equestrian team moved to 3-0 in Hunt Seat competition after finishing High Point Team this weekend at the Mystic Valley Hunt Club in Gales Ferry, Conn. Katie Gray (Colchester, Vt.) took first in the Novice Flat qualifying for the IHSA Regional Championship in the event. 

Jessica Chaloux (Newtown, Conn.), in her collegiate debut, took first in Walk/Trot/Canter, while Riley Boath took first in Walk/Trot. 

Sacred Heart clinched six second-place finishes: Jocelyn Alfieri (Darien, Conn.) placed second in Open Flat, Allison Buccos (East Moriches, N.Y.) took second in Open Fences, Courtney Sevigny (Thompson, Conn.) finished second in Intermediate Fences, Gabriella Tauro (East Lyme, Conn.) took second in Intermediate Flat, Taylor DiBella (Holmdel, N.J.) was second in Intermediate Flat and Abigail Williams (Dover Plains, N.Y.) placed second in Novice Fences.

The team also snagged three third places finishes with Tauro taking third in Intermediate Fences, Melissa Yacubich (Shoreham, N.Y.) finishing third in Novice Fences and Natalie Cafasso (Derby, Conn.) taking third in Novice Flat.

The Pioneers' other Top 5 finishes were: Alfieri taking fourth in Open Fences, Buccos finishing fifth in Open Flat, Katherine Byrne (Annandale, Va.) clinching fourth in Novice Fences and Rebecca Salberg (Rockaway, N.J.) snagging a fourth place finish in Novice Flat.
