Pioneers 13th at Tournament of Champions

LONG VALLEY, N.J. (December 7, 2013)—The Sacred Heart equestrian team finished tied for thirteenth place with 14 points at the 22nd Annual Holiday Tournament of Champions held at Centenary College in Long Valley, N.J. The event featured 25 of the best teams in collegiate riding, including 19 teams that are in first place in their regions and none lower than second place. Mount Holyoke College was named the Champion with 32 points, and Centenary College was the Reserve Champion with 30 points.


Juniors Alison Brosky (Manhassett, N.Y.) and Brianna Formicola (Montvale, N.J.) took home the Pioneers' top finishes. Brosky finished fourth in Intermediate Fences, while Formicola also took fourth in the Walk/Trot.


Sacred Heart notched a trio of fifth place finishes: Taylor DiBella (Holmdel, N.J.) in Open Flat, Katie Gray (Colchester, Vt.) in Intermediate Flat and Jessica Chaloux (Newtown, Conn.) in Walk/Trot/Canter.


Melissa Yacubich (Shoreham, N.Y.) and Jocelyn Alfieri (Darien, Conn.) rounded out the Pioneers' top 10 finishes. Yacubich finished sixth in Novice Flat, while Alfieri placed eighth in Open Fences.
