Hunt Seat Compete At Regional Championship

Fairfield, Conn - The Sacred Heart University equestrian team competed at the Hunt Seat Regional Championship Saturday evening, with 2 of our 8 individual qualifiers advancing to the Zone Championship on April 7. Hunt Seat team will also be competing for a spot at the @IHSAinc National Championship. 

Results:

Cariann Johnson wins Open Fences and Devon Conley places 4th. With the win, Johnson secures a spot for the Pioneers for the second year in a row in this individual qualifier class at the Zone Championship and becomes only the second rider in program history to win this Regionals class. Conley becomes the second rider in program history to place 4th.

Cecelia Mathon places 2nd in Walk Trot Canter and Kassandra Bayles places 4th. By placing in the top 2, Mathon secures a spot in this individual qualifier class for the third year in a row for the Pioneers at the Zone Championship.

Emery Smith and Isabel Rodriguez place 6th and 9th in Novice Flat

Isabel Rodriguez and Emery Smith place 5th and 8th in Novice Fences

Olivia Marlow and Cariann Johnson place 5th and 6th in Open Flat

Gabriella Sorrentino places 6th in Intermediate Fences

The Pioneers are back in action Saturday 7. April at HS Zones at Mount Holyoke, MA at 9 am
