(Bridgeport, CT) – In a mid-week non-conference game in which both teams combined to use 14 pitchers, the Yale Bulldogs beat the Sacred Heat Pioneer Baseball team 3-2 at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard Wednesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs jumped to a 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI single to centerfield by Jacob Hunter. The Pioneers responded with a run in the third on a sacrifice fly by Rob Griffith (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY) with the bases loaded to tie the game at one.
Sacred Heart went ahead by one on an RBI single to centerfield by Chris Whittemore (Lavellette, NJ), with Griffith sliding around the tag at home to make it 2-1 SHU. However, Yale tied the game in the seventh on a safety squeeze by Gant Elmore, then took the lead for good in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Trey Rallis.

Matt Fitton (Lebanon, CT), James Ineson (Milford, CT), and Liam Rafferty (Westminster, MA) each pitched a scoreless inning of relief. MJ Schifano (Monroe, NY) went 2-3 at the plate to continue his hot hitting, as he is now 10-17 in his last six games.
