(Fairfield, CT) – JJ Edwards (Endwell, NY) and Troy Scribner (Washington Depot, CT) were both named to the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association Division I All-Star Game, announced by the NEIBA this week.
Edwards and Scribner will be unavailable to play in Thursday's game at LaLacheur Park in Lowell, MA , as the Sacred Heart Pioneers will be playing in the NCAA Regionals at Clemson University Friday night against the host Tigers at 7:00 p.m. The Pioneers reached the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history by winning the Northeast Conference Baseball Championship over Monmouth 9-2 on Sunday, May 22.
Edwards, named to the NEIBA Division I 1st Team, is currently hitting .380, third highest in the NEC, with 30 RBI 40 runs. He also is second in the NEC this year with 79 hits, two hits shy of the all-time single season record.
Scribner made the NEIBA Division I 2nd Team, finishing the year tied for the NEC lead with nine wins and leading the league with 92.2 innings pitched. The Pioneer ace has won his last seven consecutive starts, going into the NCAA Tournament with a 3.69 ERA with 44 strikeouts against 20 walks.
