SHU Baseball Participates in Read-A-Loud at the Black Rock School

(Bridgeport, CT) - The Sacred Heart University Baseball team recently took time away from its preparations for the upcoming season to participate in the Read-A-Loud program at the Black Rock School in Bridgeport.

The team divided up to read to students from 17 classes, grades kindegarten through sixth grade, on last Friday, February 17.

"The boys were very mature and professional," said the schoo's principal Mrs. Helyer.  "The kids thought they were a major league team."

For SHU Baseball Assistant Coach Wayne Mazzoni, the experience is a particularly special one.  "It's fun for me," said Mazzoni.  "My two boys go to school there and to see our players nervous in front of six year olds is interesting!"

SHU Baseball Head Coach Nick Giaquinto summed up the positivity of the experience, saying "It's a win-win for their students and ours."
