(Teaneck, NJ) – The Fairleigh Dickenson Knights scored three times in the eighth to break a tie game and hand the Sacred Heart University Baseball team a 6-3 loss in the finale of a four-game series Sunday afternoon.
Tied at three, pinch hitter Mike Hewson singled to left with the bases loaded to give the Knights the lead. They added two more on a bases-loaded walk to Shane Siebler and a sacrifice fly by Mike Holsman.
Trailing 3-0 in the sixth, John Murphy (Seymour, CT) tied the game for the Pioneers with a three-run homerun to right field. The Knights went up 3-0 in the fifth on a two-run homerun by Ryan Kresky.
Kody Kerski (Waterbury, CT) pitched six solid innings, giving up three runs on six hits with six strikeouts. However, Mike Eliason pitched a complete game for FDU, scattering six hits with four walks and nine strikeouts in leading the Knights to their third win in the series.
Sacred Heart will take on Yale in non-conference action on Tuesday, beginning at 3:30 pm.
