(Smithfield, RI) - Kevin Brown tripled in the fourth and came into score on a wild pitch for the Bryant Bulldogs, the only run in a tough 1-0 loss for the Sacred Heart Unviersity Baseball team Friday afternoon in the opener of a four-game series.
Both Bulldog pitcher Peter Kelich and Pioneer hurler Nick Leiningen (Millwood, NY) pitched complete games, but Kelich did not allow a run in scattering three SHU hits on one walk and six strikeouts. Leiningen allowed only five hits on no walks and three strikeouts.
The game flew by in one hour and thirty-five minutes, the shortest nine-inning game of the season for the Pioneers.
SHU takes on Bryant in a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1:00 pm.
