  • Sacred Heart Baseball to Host Annual Columbus Day Underclass Prospect Camp

    Fairfield, CT – Sacred Heart Head Baseball Coach Nick Giaquinto and his staff are excited to announce the Sacred Heart Columbus Day Prospect Camp to be held on October 14th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The annual event as always will be held at the home of the Pioneers, the Ballpark at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, CT.

    Fairfield, CT – The Sacred Heart baseball team hosted their annual Major League Baseball scout day on September 21st at Harbor Yard. The annual event held in Bridgeport garnered attendance from the Red Sox, White Sox, Yankees, Royals, MLB Scouting Bureau, Mariners, A’s, Nationals, and Blue Jays.

    Fairfield, CT - The Sacred Heart baseball alumni softball game is set for this coming Saturday the 21st at 9:30 am. Veterans Field at 555 Madison Avenue in Bridgeport will be the site of the game. Following the softball festivities all are welcome to the Pioneer Club tent at the homecoming football game against Chowan.

    Fairfield, CT (August 26, 2013) – Sacred Heart head baseball coach Nick Giaquinto announced the hiring of Alex Trezza as an assistant coach for the 2013-14 season. Trezza joins a coaching staff of Head Coach Giaquinto, assistant coach Wayne Mazzoni and strength and conditioning coach Josh Heenan.

  • Murphy Named ABCA Third Team All American

    Fairfield, CT – Following a sensational 2013 season, the accolades just keep coming for recent Sacred Heart graduate and former SHU Shortstop John Murphy (Seymour, CT). A day after making his minor league debut with the Staten Island Yankees, Murphy was named a American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) third team All-American and made the ABCA All-Northeast First Team. Earlier this month, Murphy was selected by the New York Yankees in the sixth round of the Major League Baseball Draft.
  • Troy Scribner Signed by the Houston Astros

    Fairfield, CT – Recent SHU graduate and Sacred Heart baseball ace Troy Scribner (Washington Depot, CT) signed with the Houston Astros as an undrafted free agent on Wednesday afternoon. Scribner is the second Sacred heart player to sign with a Major League team, joining John Murphy (Seymour, CT), who was drafted in the 6th round of this year's draft by the New York Yankees.

    Fairfield, CT – With the 194th selection in the 6th round of this year’s Major League Baseball Draft, the New York Yankees selected Sacred Heart shortstop John Murphy (Seymour, CT). With the sixth round selection, Murphy becomes the highest draft pick in Sacred Heart history and becomes the seventh SHU ball player to be drafted under Head Coach Nick Giaquinto. The last Pioneer to be selected in the MLB draft was center fielder Mike Drowne, who was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2010. Murphy was the first Northeast Conference player to be picked in this year’s draft.
  • Three Pioneers Named All-New England

    Fairfield, CT – Seniors Dave Boisture (Highland Mills, NY), Troy Scribner (Washington Depot, CT), and John Murphy (Seymour, CT) were named All-New England Tuesday, by the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA). The three seniors, who were vital cogs on a Pioneer team that made it all the way to the Northeast Conference Championship, will now play in the NEIBA All-Star Game on Monday, June 3rd at LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Mass.
  • SHU Baseball Falls to Bryant in NEC Championship Game

    Lakewood, NJ – For the first time in three years, the Sacred Heart Pioneers fell short of a Northeast Conference Championship, falling to the Bryant Bulldogs, 8-0, in the NEC Championship game, Sunday afternoon at First Energy Park in Lakewood, New Jersey. Sacred Heart finishes the season with a record of 34-24. The 34 wins ties a program record set in 2011.

    Lakewood, NJ – The Sacred Heart Baseball team had a chance to win their third straight NEC Championship, but fell to Bryant, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood, New Jersey. SHU and Bryant will play again tomorrow afternoon in a winner-take-all finale for a chance to play in the NCAA Tournament. The Pioneers are now 34-23 on the season.
  • Pioneers Beat LIU Brooklyn, 8-7; Advance to NEC Championship Game

    Lakewood, NJ – The Sacred Heart baseball defeated the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds, 8-7, Friday night to advance to their fifth straight NEC Championship in Lakewood, New Jersey. SHU improves to 34-22 on the season and is just one win shy of their third straight NEC Championship.

    Lakewood, NJ - The Sacred Heart Pioneers will begin their quest for a third straight NEC Championship on Thursday afternoon against the Monmouth Hawks. Like the past two seasons, the Pioneers come into the tournament as the number two seed. The Pioneers seek their fourth NEC title, to go along with rings from the past two years and 2006.

    Lakewood, NJ– For the third year in a row, senior Troy Scribner opens the NEC Championship with a complete game victory, this time a 7-1 win over the third seeded Monmouth Hawks at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood, New Jersey. Sacred Heart gets their 33rd win of the season and advances to take on LIU Brooklyn Friday afternoon at 3:30.
  • Four Pioneers Make All-NEC Teams

    Lakewood, NJ – A night before the Northeast Conference Baseball Championship kicks off in Lakewood, New Jersey, the Northeast Conference honored four Pioneers. Three Pioneers made the NEC first team; senior John Murphy (Seymour, CT), senior Dave Boisture (Highland Mills, NY), and junior Dan Perez (Seymour, CT). Senior Troy Scribner made the All-NEC second team.
  • Pioneers Finish Regular Season with Loss at Columbia

    Manhattan, NY – The Sacred Heart Pioneers let up seven runs in the final two innings to fall to Columbia, 9-2, snapping the Pioneers’ 12 game win streak at Robertson Field in New York City. SHU finishes the regular season with a record of 32-22 overall and 23-9 in the Northeast Conference. The 32 regular season wins is the most in program history.
  • Pioneers Defeat Niagara 4-2 for 12th Straight Victory

    Bridgeport, CT – The Sacred Heart Pioneers scored four runs in the third inning en route to a 4-2 win over the Niagara Purple Eagles Friday afternoon at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. With the win, Sacred Heart ties the program record with their 12th consecutive victory. The Pioneers improve to 32-21 on the season. The 32 regular season wins is the most ever by the Pioneers.
  • Pioneers Take Two Against Niagara

    Bridgeport, CT – The Sacred Heart baseball team swept the Niagara Purple Eagles Thursday afternoon, 18-2 and 5-1, in an afternoon doubleheader at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Sacred Heart has now won 11 straight games (1 shy of the program record) and improves to 31-21 this season.

    Emmitsburg, MD – The Sacred Heart Pioneers scored six runs runs the first three innings on their way to a 9-6 series finale win over Mount St. Mary’s on Saturday afternoon at Straw Family Stadium. Sacred Heart swept the four game series against the Mountaineers and have now beaten them 16 straight times. Sacred Heart finishes their NEC schedule with a record of 23-9, after closing the season on an 8 game win streak.
