Fairfield, CT –The Sacred Heart University field hockey team has joined hands with the National Foundation for Cancer Research to participate in the 3rd annual "Stick it to Cancer" campaign, in which field hockey teams across the country are invited to participate by committing to donate proceeds from at least one game to NFCR.
Sacred Heart will be donating proceeds from their game against Quinnipiac University at noon Oct. 7, 2012 to NFCR.
"We are excited to participate in Stick it to Cancer this year and do our part to help NFCR fight cancer," said Lauren Burke, Assistant Field Hockey Coach for Sacred Heart. "Almost everyone has been affected by the disease in some way, whether directly or through a loved one, and we want to do whatever we can to support the pursuit of a cure."
To raise funds, the team will be accepting general donations at the event as well as selling T-shirts to fans. The players will be wearing pink laces and tape in support of the cause.
