SHU Baseball Recognized in College Baseball Insider's NEC Preview

Fairfield, CT – Senior shortstop John Murphy (Seymour, CT) and Assistant Coach Wayne Mazzoni were highlighted in College Baseball Insider's (CBI) annual preview of the Northeast Conference. CBI surveyed the coaches of the Northeast Conference to compile a preview for the 2013 baseball season.

Murphy was mentioned numerous times in the survey, both on the defensive and offensive ends.  On the defensive side of things, the senior shortstop was named best defensive infielder and the infielder with the best arm. At the plate, Murphy was named one of the best pure hitters, the hitter you least want to face, and the best base runner.

Assistant Coach Wayne Mazzoni was named by his peers as "the assistant coach most ready for a head coaching job".

The Pioneers open their season on March 1st at Louisiana Lafayette. SHU is looking for their third straight Northeast Conference Championship.
