Gondek Homers, Pioneers Defeated by #3 LSU

Baton Rouge, LA – The Sacred Heart Baseball team was defeated the by the third ranked LSU Tigers, 10-2, Wednesday night at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. LSU scored six runs in the second inning and did not look back from there improving their record to 11-1. The Pioneers had a tough day in Baton Rouge, losing to Stephen F. Austin in 13 innings this afternoon. Sacred Heart is still looking for their first win of the season.  

LSU battered the Pioneers for ten runs on ten hits. Sacred Heart did not help themselves too much in the field either, making five errors in the game. A balanced Tigers lineup gave the Pioneers trouble all night with six LSU players notching RBI's. Jared Foster and Alex Bregman lead the way with two hits each.

Sacred Heart starting pitcher Troy Scribner (Washington Depot, CT) had a tough day, giving up eight runs on seven hits in four and 2/3 innings.  It is Scribner's first loss of the season.
Sacred Heart could only muster two runs on a Rocco Gondek (Glastonbury, CT) homerun in the fifth inning, his first of the season, and a Jayson Sullivan (Charlton, NY) fielder's choice that scored senior Jonathan Servilla (Fairfield, CT) in the eighth inning.  Gondek went two for three on the night.
Sacred Heart continues their tour around Louisiana when they face-off against Nicholls State this weekend for a three game series starting Friday night.
