SHU and Wagner Suspended on Saturday, Will Play Doubleheader Sunday

STATEN ISLAND, NY – Sacred Heart and Wagner were only able to get through six innings Saturday afternoon before a rigorous rain storm stopped the action and suspended game one of the Saturday doubleheader. The Pioneers and Seahawks will resume today's game in the top of the seventh and then play a doubleheader tomorrow afternoon, beginning at noon.

The game was halted after six full innings with the Seahawks leading the Pioneers 6-1. Wagner smacked three home runs off SHU starting pitcher Nick Morrissey (Howell, NJ), including back-to-back jacks in the bottom of the sixth inning. Designated hitter Chris Smith broke a 1-1 tie with a solo home run in the fourth inning, before going yard once again in the sixth to give Wagner a 6-1 lead.

The Pioneers scored their lone run in the top of the fourth. Jayson Sullivan (Charlton, NY) knocked home Jesus Medina (New York, NY) on an infield single to tie the game momentarily at one. Medina led off the fourth inning with a double down the right field line, before moving over to third on a fly out by Zack Short (Hurley, NY).
