FAIRFIELD, CT (August 8, 2013) - Former Sacred Heart standout Kibwe Trim (Trinidad and Tobago) has signed with the Ryukyu Golden Kings Okinawa (BJ League). Trim is beginning his eighth season in professional basketball and has put together a solid international career since graduating from SHU in 2006.
Trim emerged as the league's dominant post player in his senior campaign leading the NEC with 19.2 ppg and 14 double-doubles in 2006. Trim while also ranking third in field goal percentage (.618; seventh nationally) and fourth in rebounding (8.6 rpg). A well-rounded student-athlete, the San Juan, Trinidad native was also named an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American during his senior season.
After graduation, he was drafted by the Dakota Wizards (D-League) in third round (30th overall) and helped lead them to the D-League Central Division championship title in 2008. He was a member of Trinidad and Tobago Senior National Team in 2010. He has had playing stops in France, Venezuela (Toros) and D-League (Santa Cruz Warriors).
He played most recently at Anyang KGC in South Korean's KBL league. In 62 games he averaged 7.0 ppg and 5.7 rpg last season. In 2011-12, Trim played for Taiwan Beer (SBL) in the Taiwanese league. In 26 games he was third best scorer averaging 17.5 ppg and 11.4 rpg (5th in the league) that season and helped his team advanced to the league semifinals. For his efforts he was selected to Asia-basket.com Taiwanese SBL All-Imports Team and All-League second team. Trim also played at Al Moutahed (Division A) in the Lebanese league that season averaging 17.5 ppg and averaged 9.2 rpg and 1.2 spg in 13 games.
In 2009-10 season Trim played at CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu (Liga Nationala) in the Romanian league. In 15 games he posted 15.2 ppg, 7.3 rpg and 1.1 spg and was named to the Romanian League All-Star Game.
