FAIRFIELD, Conn – Freshman De'Von Barnett (Waldorf, MD) was named to the Northeast Conference All-Rookie team Tuesday morning, as announced by the league office. Barnett was named NEC Rookie of the Week three times this season, the most of any freshman in the league.
Barnett finished the season averaging 11.0 points and 4,6 rebounds per game, while shooting 53% from the floor. After missing the Pioneers first seven games with an injury, Barnett become one of Sacred Heart's most consistent players. The Maryland-native scored in double digits 13 times this season, including a career-high 24 points, against Mount St. Mary's on February 27th. In the win against the Mount, the 6'4'' wing shot an efficient 12-of-16 from the the floor and personally went on an 8-0 run late in the second half to help the Pioneers pull away.
In the last four games of the season, Barnett averaged 17.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.
