Kyle Steinway is entering his second season as assistant coach for the Pioneers.
Steinway joined the Pioneers after finishing his third season as the director of men's basketball operations at Hofstra University. Steinway's responsibilities include coordinating team travel and recruiting visits, handling business operations, serving as staff liaison to the business office and equipment rooms and assisting in scheduling of practices and competition. He also served as the director of the Mo Cassara Basketball Camp.
In his first season on the staff at Hofstra, the Pride finished 21-12 and a 14-4 record in CAA play. That marked Hofstra's best finish since joining the league in 2001-02. During the end of the 2011-12 campaign, Steinway was ranked first in the CAA in the RecruitDirt.com rankings of the league men's basketball operations directors.
Steinway joined the Pride staff after serving as assistant men's basketball coach at Newberry College in 2009-10. Steinway had responsibilities with every aspect of the men's basketball program at Newberry and was part of a staff that posted two wins over ranked opponents, and mentored SAC All-Rookie Team selection Ryan Barnes. He also coordinated the program's scouting and managed the program's budget and travel arrangements.
Prior to that, Steinway spent at three seasons on staff Providence College; the first two as a graduate assistant. During the 2007-2008 season, Steinway served as video coordinator. In 2006-07, Steinway helped the Friars earn a berth in the 2007 National Invitational Tournament.
Steinway also spent a year as an assistant coach at Stonehill College and worked in the sports information department at Iona College.
A 2003 graduate of Providence College with a degree in economics, Steinway served as an undergraduate manager for the Friars for three seasons. He also earned his master's degree in business administration in 2007 from Providence.
