MOON TOWNSHIP, PA - The Sacred Heart men's basketball team knew it had a tall task in front of it, trying to beat first-place Robert Morris on the road. The Robert Morris defense made sure the Pioneers never had a chance, holding them to just 15 points in the first half on the way to a 64-39 win Thursday night.
The loss drop SHU to 13-13 overall and 6-9 in the Northeast Conference. The Pioneers likely need to win their three remaining games to qualify for the NEC Tournament. Robert Morris improves to 19-9 overall and 14-1 in conference play.
The Pioneers made just one of their first 13 field goal attempts, falling behind 18-3 in the first 11 minutes of the game.
Corey Hassan led SHU with 12 points. The Pioneers shot just 29 percent from the field (13-44).
Rob Robinson led the Colonials with 18 points, making 8-8 field goal attempts. Karon Abraham added 17.
The Pioneers are back in action Saturday at Saint Francis (PA) at 4:00 pm.
