FAIRFIELD, CT -

Setting The Scene: The Sacred Heart men’s basketball team looks bounce back into the win column on Thursday when it travels to Rhode Island to take on Bryant University at 7:30 pm as the second half of a doubleheader with the women’s team. The Pioneers are coming off a 69-65 home loss to The Mount on Saturday.

Series: This is the 18th meeting between the two schools and SHU leads it, 10-8. The Pioneers beat Bryant twice last season. Prior to that, the two teams hadn’t met since the 1997-98 season when SHU defeated Bryant 83-67 in the Pitt Center in the final game of the season.

Scouting the Opponent: Bryant comes into the game with an 0-16 overall mark and 0-4 record in the Northeast Conference. The Bulldogs are coming off a 67-62 loss at Monmouth on Saturday. The Bulldogs suffered a huge blow when senior Cecil Gresham was lost for the season with an injury, after playing just eight games. He was averagine 14.5 points per game before his injury.

Freshman forward Vladyslav Kondratyev is the top active scorer for Bryant, averaging 6.9 points per game. Michael Chroney is the top rebounder at 4.4 per contest.

Cleaning the Boards: The Pioneers have out rebounded their last four opponents by an average of nine per game. Overall, SHU has outrebounded 10 of the last 11 opponents and 12 of 15 overall.

Litke Lights it Up: Senior Ryan Litke scored a career-high 25 points in the win over Wagner on January 7. The SHU sharpshooter came in the game a little earlier than usual, when starting guard Chauncey Hardy picked up two fouls four minutes into the game. Litke responded by draining a career-best seven three-pointers. 1,000 in Sight: Ryan Litke stands just two points short of 1,000 in his career. He will become the 30th player in school history to reach that mark and seventh in Division I. Corey Hassan is closing in on that milestone as well, with 921 points.
