Hassan Named NEC Player of the Week

FAIRFIELD, CT - Men's Basketball forward Corey Hassan (Merrimack, NH) has been named the Choice Hotels NEC Player of the Week today. It is the third time this season the senior has claimed that award.
Hassan takes home the award, the fifth of his career, after averaging 21.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in two Pioneer victories. He connected on 50.0 percent of his field goal attempts, including 44.4 percent from long range (8-18), and committed just one turnover in 60 minutes of play.
Hassan posted his fourth double-double of the year in Thursday's 71-53 win over CCSU with 17 points and 12 rebounds to go along with three assists and a steal.
Two days later, he collected 26 points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal in just 25 minutes as the Pioneers rolled to an 84-60 victory over Bryant.
Hassan is now just four points shy of 1,000 in his Sacred Heart career and has totaled 1,328 points when including his freshman year at Boston University. Hassan continues to lead the NEC with 20.7 ppg (20th nationally) and 3.4 three-pointers per outing (fifth nationally), and also ranks third in the conference with 8.0 rpg.
