Men's Basketball at Penn State Tonight

STATE COLLEGE, PA - Setting The Scene: The Sacred Heart men's basketball team will travel to State College, PA on Wednesday for a meeting with the Nittany Lions of Penn State. The Pioneers are coming off a loss to Xavier on Saturday and looking to end a two-game slide.
Series vs. Penn State:This is the second meeting between these two schools. The previous meetings:

SHU vs. the Big Ten: This is just the third game the Pioneers have played against a Big Ten opponent. SHU is 0-2 against Penn State and 0-1 against Minnesota.
Scouting the Opponent: Penn State is off to a 3-2 start and coming off a 59-57 win over Davidson on Sunday in the Charleston Classic. The Nittany Lions lost the first two games of the Classic to Tulane (63-60) and UNC-Wilmington (80-69).
Penn State is led by junior guard Talor Battle who is averaging 18 points, six rebounds and three assists per game. He is a deadly free throw shooter, canning 87 percent of his tries (26-30). Junior forward Jeff Brooks is the only other PSU player scoring in double figures at 11.6 per game.
Junior Andrew Jones is the Nittany Lions' leading rebounder at 6.2 per contest.
PSU is shooting 40 percent from the field, 32 percent from three and 76 percent from the free throw line.
This Date in SHU Men's Basketball History: On November 25, 2003, the Pioneers didn't play one of the prettiest games in school history at Army, but a 13-4 run in the final 6:30 of the game and a big steal and layup by senior guard Omar Wellington in the final seconds helped the Pioneers escape with a 55-51 win over the Black Knights. Maurice Bailey led SHU with 16 points, followed by 12 from Kibwe Trim and Tre Samuels.
Upcoming Games: The Pioneers return home to the Pitt Center for two games, starting November 30 against Columbia. They will then host Monmouth in the Northeast Conference opener on December 5.
TV/Radio/Internet: This game will be broadcast live on the WICC 600 AM and on the Internet from the Sacred Heart athletic website, SacredHeartPioneers.com. Gene Gumbs, SHU Senior Associate AD for Communications, will handle the commentating duties. The Pioneers will offer every men's basketball game live this season on the Internet, with 16 games also being broadcast live over the air on the Pioneer Radio Network and flagship station WICC 600 AM.
