SHU Invitational Set for Sunday, December 5

(Fairfield, CT) - The Sacred Heart Men's and Women's Fencing teams are hosting some of the most prestigious competition in college fencing this Sunday, December 5 at the SHU Invitational.  The Pioneers will host six teams, four of which are previous NCAA Fencing champions.  The slate includes last year's national champion Penn State Nittany Lions, as well as the North Carolina Tar Heels, Harvard Crimson, Princeton Tigers, New York University Violets, and Vassar Brewers.

"It's going to be a real exciting day of fencing," said Sacred Heart head coach Dr. Tom Vrabel.  "A lot of All-Americans will be competing.  Also many people who have been to the Olympics will also be there."

The annual heptathlon begins at 10:00 a.m. at the William H. Pitt Center.  Each team will face one another throughout the day.
