(Fairfield, CT) - The Sacred Heart Men's Fencing team received votes in the first USFCA college fencing ranking of the year, meaning they are now ranked 14th nationally.
After last weekend's wins against John Hopkins and NJIT, the Pioneer men are now 12-9 on the season. Junior epeeist Justin Dion (North Attleboro, MA) led SHU with a 15-3 record, and for his efforts was recognized as one of the College Fencing Primetime Performers of the Week by collegefencing360.com, the online home of the USFCA college fencing rankings. With five matches left in the Pioneers' league slate, SHU is 5-0 with Vassar close behind at 4-1. The Pioneers seek to repeat as Northeast Fencing Conference Champs. Sacred Heart takes on Vassar in the final regular season match of the year, potentially setting up a showdown for the NEC Championship on that date.
