Senior Dale Fink (Swansea, IL) earned the season's final Northeast Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week announced by the league on Monday. Fink closed out the season setting a new NEC record for career passing yards.
Fink made for a fitting end to his illustrious career during Sacred Heart's 38-22 win over Wagner. The 6-foot-4 quarterback threw for 395 yards and five touchdowns in his final career appearance, eclipsing Saint Francis (PA) alumnus Anthony Doria (8,544) for the NEC's all-time passing record. Fink, who closed his four-year career with 8, 803 passing yards, set the record on a 36-yard scoring strike to Chris Nahat with 00:52 remaining in the opening quarter. The fourth-year starter, who logged a NEC single-game season high 414 passing yards two weeks ago against Albany, surpassed the 300-yard mark in the first half alone against Wagner. Leading Sacred Heart to a commanding 31-7 lead at the break, Fink completed 21 of his 27 first-half pass attempts for 306 yards and four touchdowns. Fink finished the game 31-of-45 passing, connecting with eight different receivers. The most prolific passer in NEC history set 13 program records during his time at Sacred Heart and also holds the NEC mark for career touchdowns passes (82).
