Complete College Football Performance Awards Release

Senior Justin Embler (Cinnaminson, NJ) racked up a team high 11 tackles for the Pioneers against Bryant en route to being named the College Football Performance Awards D-I FCS National Defensive Lineman Performer of the Week.  The 6-2, 225 pound defensive lineman recorded eight solo tackles as SHU shutout the Bulldogs in the second half of the Friday night clash at Campus Field.

Embler caused havoc in the Bryant backfield throughout the contest, registering five tackles for a loss, including a sack, for a total of 28 yards.  He also delivered a blow that forced a fumble in the third quarter to produce one of the Sacred Heart's two turnovers of the contest.  Through the first two games of the 2011 season Embler leads the Pioneers with 17 total tackles and seven tackles for a loss.

Linebacker Chris Mandas (Mission Viejo, CA) also earned a CFPA Week 3 honorable mention after notching 10 tackles and a pass break-up versus Bryant.

Embler and the Pioneer defense, which has pitched a shutout in one half of each of the first two games of the year, take to the field again Saturday afternoon against Dartmouth during homecoming weekend.
