J.D. Roussel Named to AP All-American Team
Senior defensive back J.D. Roussel (Pawtucket, RI) was named an Associated Press third team All-American as announced Friday afternoon. Roussel joins juniors Troy Moore (Worcester, MA) and Keshaudas Spence (Dorchester, MA) who were named All-Americans by The Sports Network last week. Since 2001, Sacred Heart has earned 14 All-America honors.

Spence and Moore Named Sports Network All-Americans
Junior running back Keshaudas Spence (Dorchester, MA) and junior defensive lineman Troy Moore (Worcester, MA) have been named All-Americans as announced by The Sports Network Wednesday afternoon. Spence and Moore join Kayode Mwawe (2000) as the only Pioneers in program history to be named FCS All-Americans. The Sacred Heart football team won the 2013 Northeast Conference Championship and earned the program's first-ever berth into the FCS Playoffs.

Sacred Heart Football Announces Summer Clinics
FAIRFIELD, Conn – Head Coach Mark Nofri has announced the dates of Sacred Heart football's annual One-Day Developmental Football clinics. The reigning Northeast Conference Champs will host clinics at the Pitt Center and Campus Field on Saturday, June 7th and Friday, June 20th. The clinics are open to all players entering grades 9-12.

FAIRFIELD, Conn – Following a historic 2013 season for the Sacred Heart football team, running back Keshaudas Spence (Dorchester, MA), offensive lineman Paul Link (East Greewich, RI), and defensive lineman Troy Moore (Worcester, MA) have all been named to the FCS All-New England team, as voted by the New England Football Writers’ Association Monday evening. Last season, just one Pioneer, linebacker Tyler Foehr, earned All-New England honors.

Pioneers Fall in FCS Playoffs 37-27 at Fordham
BRONX, NY – In their first-ever FCS Playoff game, the Sacred Heart Pioneers turned the ball over a season-high four times, falling 37-27 to the Fordham Rams Saturday afternoon at Jack Coffey Field. The Pioneers finish the season 10-3.

Pioneers Head to Fordham for FCS Playoffs First Round
In the program’s first-ever FCS playoff game, the Sacred Heart FAIRFIELD, Conn - Pioneers travel to take on the Fordham Rams Saturday afternoon at Coffey Field. The 2013 Northeast Conference Champions finished the season on a three game winning streak, clinching the NEC title with a 42-25 win at Robert Morris on November 16th. Fordham closed out its regular season with a convincing 56-19 win at Colgate last Saturday. Sacred Heart and Fordham have never met on the grid iron.

FAIRFIELD, Conn - Sacred Heart Head Football Coach Mark Nofri was named a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award, given to the Football Championship Subdivision Coach of the Year Wednesday. Coach Nofri led the Pioneers to a 10-2 regular season record on their way to the Northeast Conference Title and a berth into the FCS Playoffs.

A year removed from a 2-9 record and a last place NEC finish, Head Coach Mark Nofri and the Pioneers will play in the FCS playoffs for the first time in program history.

The Sacred Heart Pioneers look for a share of the Northeast Conference when they travel to take on the Robert Morris Colonials in Moon Township, Pa. SHU is coming off a 10-0 win over Duquesne last Saturday afternoon. Junior running back Keshaudas Spence ran for 181 yards against the Dukes on his way to breaking the Sacred Heart single season rushing record. Robert Morris comes into this afternoon’s game on a three game winning streak, with wins over Wagner, Bryant and Central Connecticut. Last week, the Colonials defeated CCSU 54-21 in New Britain. Quarterback Paul Jones tossed three touchdowns in the win over CCSU.

Pioneers Welcome the Monmouth Hawks to Campus Field
The Sacred Heart Pioneers welcome former NEC-rival Monmouth to Campus Field for their final non-conference game of the season. Sacred Heart is coming off just their second loss of the season at Saint Francis University on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers held a 7-3 halftime lead but scored a season low three points in the second half on their way to a 24-10 loss. SHU sits at 2-2 in the conference, tied for third place. Bryant and Duquesne are tied for first with just one NEC loss. Monmouth is coming off a thorough 48-23 beating of Cornell over the weekend. Last season, Monmouth defeated Sacred Heart 27-14 in West Long Branch, NJ.

Pioneers Look For Three Straight at Saint Francis University
The Sacred Heart Pioneers look for their third consecutive conference vicory on the road against the Red Flash of Saint Francis University. The Pioneers are 4-0 on the road this season, including their first ever win at Bryant last Saturday. Saint Francis comes into this afternoon’s game following a 28-10 home victory over Monmouth. The Red Flash scored two defensive touchdowns on their way to snapping a two game losing streak. SFU lost their only NEC game of the season to CCSU on October 5th by the score of 38-29.

Sacred Heart junior running back Keshaudas Spence (Dorcchester, MA) piled up a career-high 211 yards with two scores as the Pioneers ran away with a 59-36 Northeast Conference win over Central Connecticut Saturday afternoon on Campus Field. The Pioneers forced four turnovers and blocked a punt, all leading to touchdowns in the win and improved to 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the NEC.

Sacred Heart Welcomes Central Connecticut to Campus Field
FAIRFIELD, Conn - The 5-1 Sacred Heart Pioneers welcome their in-state rival, Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils, to Campus Field for a Northeast Conference clash. Last season, Sacred Heart defeated Central Connecticut 34-21 to earn their only Northeast Conference win of the 2012 season. Keshaudas Spence ran for 123 yards in the victory and the SHU defense snagged three interceptions. Sacred Heart is looking for their third straight victory over their in-state rival, while CCSU leads the all-time series 9-6. The Blue Devils and Pioneers first met on October 24, 1998, a 38-31 Central Connecticut victory.

Pioneers Host Defending Northeast Conference Champs
Fairfield, CT - The undefeated Sacred Heart football team opens up their Northeast Conference schedule as they play host to the Wagner Seahawks, the defending conference champions. The Pioneers played the Seahawks tough in 2012, with Wagner prevailing 12-3 at Campus Field. Sacred Heart is 7-8 all-time against Wagner with their first meeting coming on September 19, 1998. The Pioneers last defeated Wagner in the final game of the 2013 season by a score of 38-22.

Sacred Heart Shuts Down Bucknell 16-0
Lewisburg, PA – The Sacred Heart Pioneers forced six turnovers and collected seven sacks on their way to a 16-0 victory over the Bucknell Bison Saturday night at Christy Mathewson Memorial Stadium in Lewisburg, PA. It is the first Sacred Heart shutout since October 5th, 2002 when they blanked Robert Morris 34-0. The Pioneers improve to 5-0 for the first time since 2008.

Sacred Heart freshman Alec Finney (Reading, PA) hit a 42-yard field goal as time expired to cap a 26-24 Pioneer win at Lafayette College Saturday night. Sophomore quarterback RJ Noel (Lowell, MA) engineered an 11-play, 54 yard drive with 2:02 left in the game to set up Finney’s game-winning kick and send the Pioneers off on a 2-0 start to their season.

Fairfield, CT – The Sacred Heart football team has been selected to pick seventh in the Northeast Conference this season, as voted on by the NEC Head Coaches and announced Monday morning during the first-ever NEC Football Head Coaches Google+ Hangout. Junior defensive lineman Troy Moore and senior offensive lineman Paul Link were named to the Pre-season All-NEC team.

NEC Football Media Event Scheduled for Monday
For the first time in league history, the Northeast Conference will host their annual preseason football coaches telaconference via a Google Hangout on Monday. The annual event will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday morning with the league's seven head coaches particpating.

Pioneer Football Adds Lincoln University to 2013 Schedule
Sacred Heart head football coach Mark Nofri announced that the Pioneers have added a twelfth game to their 2013 schedule this fall and will play host to Lincoln University. The Pioneers will have six home games and six road trips this coming fall.

After serving as the interim head coach of the football program in 2012, Mark Nofri has been elevated to head football coach at Sacred Heart University. Nofri is the seventh head coach in Sacred Heart football history.

Pioneer Offense Impresses in 2013 Spring Game
The Sacred Heart football team held its annual Red & White Spring game Saturday afternoon on Campus Field with the offense impressing with a pounding rushing attack. At the end of Saturday’s game, head coach Mark Nofri announced that seniors Justin Sexton (Murrieta, CA), Alex Aitkens (Wood Ridge, NJ), Greg Moore (Newark, NJ) and Paul Link (East Greenwich, RI) have been elected team captains for the upcoming 2013 season.

Annual Red & White Spring Game Set for Saturday
Fans will have the chance to get their first look at the 2013 Pioneers when the Sacred Heart football team hosts its annual Red & White Spring Game this Saturday, April 27th on Campus Field. Admission is free for the game with kick-off scheduled for 11:00 am.

Pioneer Football Hosts Clinic with RISE Transition Program
The Sacred Heart Pioneer football program took some time off from their spring practices last week to spend the afternoon running a football skills clinic with students from the University's RISE Transition Program. SHU junior defensive lineman Joe Tulino (Lacey Township, PA), who works with the program as a peer fitness buddy, helped organize the clinic featuring several of his Pioneer teammates.

Pioneer Football Announces 2013 Schedule
Sacred Heart head football coach Mark Nofri announced the 11 game schedule for the upcoming 2013 football season. The Pioneers begin their 23rd season on the gridiron this fall and 15th season playing in the Northeast Conference. This year's slate features five home games and non-conference match-ups against Bucknell, Chowan, Lafayette, Marist and Monmouth.
