FAIRFIELD, Conn – Sacred Heart quarterback R.J. Noel (Lowell, MA) has been named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the sixth time this season. Noel has won the R.O.W honor four for the last five weeks.
In the Pioneers' final home game of the season, Noel was once again at the controls of a pivotal conference victory. In Sacred Heart's 10-0 win over Duquesne, Noel ran for 88 yards and added another 79 through the air. Noel's 49 yard scamper on 3rd and 11 with 5 minutes left in the game led to a Keshaudas Spence (Dorchester, MA) game icing 22-yard touchdown run. The Jerry Rice Watch List member leads the Northeast conference with 20 touchdown throws this season, while adding six more on the ground.
The 9-2 Pioneers close out the regular season this Saturday at Robert Morris. With a win over the Colonials, SHU will clinch atleast a share of the Northeast Conference Championship.
