FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart football team rushed for 301 yards Saturday night as the Pioneers defeated the Stetson Hatters 42-3 in the season opener at Campus Field.
Senior quarterback Kevin Duke rushed for a career-high 81 yards and three touchdowns, passing for 155 yards and another score. Sophomore Imamu Mayfield led the Pioneers with 93 rushing yards on 14 carries and scored his first career touchdown. Ose Imeokparia rushed for 59 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, CJ Parvelus and Kevin Barry each had seven tackles for SHU.

12:43 1Q – SHU 7, Stetson 0; After Jordan Meachum returned the opening kickoff 49 yards to the Stetson 43, Duke punctuated the first Pioneer drive with a two-yard quarterback sneak.
7:22 1Q – SHU 14, Stetson 0; Duke completed all three pass attempts on the drive, as his 26-yard completion to Andrew O'Neill put the Pioneers ahead 14-0. The drive was 10 plays over 60 yards in 3:58.
0:42 1Q – SHU 21, Stetson 0; The Pioneers drove 68 yards in nine plays, with Duke scoring on a 10-yard run for his second rushing score of the night.
12:05 2Q – SHU 21, Stetson 3; The Hatters got on the board with a 36-yard field goal by Jonny Messina. Delvon Artis came up with a sack of Colin McGovern on 2nd and seven from the SHU 15, forcing Stetson into third and long.
