Pioneer Football Participates in Read Aloud Program

Feb. 15, 2010

The Sacred Heart football team has dedicated part of this offseason to working with the University Community Outreach programs. Several Pioneers take part in the Read Aloud program at Columbus Elementary in Bridgeport and have volunteered their time at the Feel the Warmth Community Supper Program at the United Congregational Church of Bridgeport.

The Pioneers are a part of the program working with Megan Rose, a member of the SHU track and field team. Members of the team head to Columbus school on Tuesday's and Thursday's from 9:30 am to 10:20 am to spend time reading with the students. Each player reads with students in different classrooms and also are available to answer student's questions.

Andrew Kaleta (Utica, NY), Chaz Partosan (Willimantic, CT), Shawn Bennett (Jamaica, NY), Tony Patterson (Groton, CT), Sean Kessler (Huntington, NY) and Ray Sheehan (Howard Beach, NY) donated their time on Feburary 11th at the United Congregational Church assisting with the community supper program.
