The Sacred Heart football team took time out from their offseason program to participate in the Read Aloud to help celebrate Black History Month at Cesar A. Batalla School in Bridgeport.
Several Pioneers visited the school on Thursday and Friday, February, 26th and 27th, to read the book A Sweet Smell of Roses and answer questions from the students. The Pioneer football team was part of the program that also featured several members of the city's police and fire departments as well as other leaders in the Bridgeport community.
"Getting involved in the community is an important part of being a student-athlete at Sacred Heart University," stated assistant coach Darin Edwards who also participated in the event with the players. "This was a great opportunity for a our players to take some time outside of classes and workouts to spen some time reading and answering questions with the students in the community."
