Men's Golf Picked Second by NEC Coaches in Preseason Poll

Complete NEC Release (PDF)

SOMERSET, N.J. - The Sacred Heart University men's golf team received two first place votes on its way to claiming the number two spot in the Northeast Conference Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's coaches.

The Pioneers look to win back the title it owned for back-to-back seasons in 2008 and 2009.  After missing the crown by a single stroke in 2010, Matt McGreevy took over as head coach in the fall and will rely on veterans Joshua Salah (Gloucester, Mass.) and Joseph Serrantino (Cromwell, Conn.) to take the team back to the top of the league.  Both golfers earned All-NEC recognition for the Pioneers in last year's tournament, with a fifth place showing for Salah and a seventh place ranking for Serrantino.

The 2011 NEC Men's Golf Tournament will be held at the Mystic Dunes Resort and Golf Club in Celebration, FL from April 29-May 1. Team scores will be achieved by adding the team's four lowest scores from each day. The top-10 finishers will be designated All-Tournament performers.
