Pioneers in Fifth at Conclusion of Day One at the Wildcat Invite

MALVERN, Pa. - The Sacred Heart University men's golf team, straight off a second place finish at the Yale Spring Opener, sits in fifth place after day one of the Wildcat Invitational.  Collectively, the Pioneers have shot a 304 at the par-71, 7,009 White Manor Country Club and are currently one stroke ahead of host Villanova.

Junior Joseph Serrantino (Cromwell, Conn.) leads the way for SHU as he is near the top of the leaderboard with a one-under par 70 to land him in a tie for second place through the first round.  He is currently tied with Villanova's Steve Skurla, who only completed 12 holes yesterday, due to darkness.

Senior David Renski (North Stonington, Conn.) was the only other Pioneer to crack into the top 30 of the 105 player field.  Renski is in a tie for 29th after recording a five-over par 76.

Juniors Bradley Neudorf (Virgil, Ont.) and Jun Hardart (Warwick, Bermuda), as well as sophomore Joshua Salah (Gloucester, Mass.) each shot an eight-over 79 to stake their claim in 52nd.

Delaware, behind a five-under par performance from Kevin McLister, is in first place among the 20 team field with a round one score of 290.  Between Sacred Heart and the top of the leaderboard are Towson (293), Georgetown (300), and Temple (303).
