Grasonville, MD – The Sacred Heart Men's golf team traveled to Grasonville, Maryland over the weekend to participate in the Fireline Towson Invitational. The Pioneers finished the weekend tied in 11th place with a score of 900 (+36) in a field of 22 teams.
SHU shot 302 on the first two days of the event and posted a 296 on Sunday to finish tied with Central Connecticut State for 11th. SHU and CCSU finished behind Mount St. Mary's in ninth among five NEC schools competing at the event at Prospect Bay Country Club.
Will Smittle (Scarsdale, NY) led the way for the pioneers with a strong 16th place finish. He finished three rounds with a score of 220 (+4). Josh Salah (Gloucester, MA) finished tied for 24th place with a final score of 222 (+6). Leo Garcia (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) finished tied for 80th place with a 232 (+16) score. Sam Barber (North Bay, Ontario) finished right behind Garcia tied for 85th with a 233 (+17) three round score. Ross Kronberg (New Canaan, CT) finished with a 236 (+20) final score tied for 98th place.
The Pioneers next compete in the New England Division I Golf Championship on April 6th.
