NESHANIC STATION, N.J. – The Sacred Heart men's golf team finished in sixth place Tuesday at the Metro Honda Peacocks Invitational held at Neshanic Valley Golf Course.
The top four Pioneers finished within three strokes of each other. Sophomore Sam Barber (North Bay, Ontario) was Sacred Heart's top finisher, carding a 75 on the par-72 course to finish in a tie for ninth place. Joshua Salah (Gloucester, Mass.) placed tied for 15th with a 76. Peter Ballo (Stamford, Conn.) fired a 77 and Will Smittle (Scarsdale, N.Y.) had a 78 to round out the scoring.
The Pioneers had a team score of 306, two strokes behind Hofstra and LaSalle who tied for fourth place. Fairfield won the tournament with a score of 297, four strokes ahead of Central Connecticut State and Monmouth.
Sacred Heart now prepares for the Northeast Conference Championship, held May 3-5 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
