Pioneers Finish in Eighth Place at NEC Men’s Golf Championship
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Sacred Heart men's golf team finished the Northeast Conference Championship in eighth place after Sunday's final round at LPGA International.
The Pioneers finished the tournament with a team-score of 56-over par, five strokes behind Central Connecticut State for seventh place. Saint Francis U won the team title with a score of 40-over par, four shots clear of LIU Brooklyn. Fairleigh Dickinson was third followed by Robert Morris, Monmouth, and Bryant.
Sam Barber (North Bay, Ontario) was Sacred Heart's top finisher, placing tied for 14th with a three-round score of 228, 12-over par. Barber carded a 79 on the final day of the tournament. Pete Ballo (Stamford, Conn.) was one shot behind Barber after posting a 76 on Sunday. Will Smittle (Scarsdale, N.Y.) shot a 77 on Sunday to finish tied for 29th at +20 for the weekend. Joshua Salah (Gloucester, Mass.) finished tied for 33rd at 22-over par.
