Men’s Golf Tied For Fifth After First Round Of Whiting-Turner Towson Invitational
EASTON, Md. – After rain washed out Sunday's opening round of the Whiting-Turner Towson Invitational, the Sacred Heart men's golf team finished Monday's round tied for fifth at Hogs Neck Golf Course.
Will Smittle (Scarsdale, N.Y.) had the Pioneers' lowest round on Monday, carding a four-over 76 to put himself tied for 17th individually. Jeff Cohen (Windham, N.H.) finished one stroke behind Smittle with a 77, putting himself tied for 22nd. Ross Kronberg (New Canaan, Conn.) found himself tied for 29th after a first-round 78. Peter Ballo (Stamford, Conn.) rounded out the Sacred Heart scoring group with an opening round 80, putting himself in a tie for 46th.
Sacred Heart finished Monday with a team score of +23, tying George Washington and the hosts Towson with a team score of 311. Those three schools are one stroke behind Indiana University of Pennsylvania for fourth place. Fairleigh Dickinson leads the team competition at +11, two shots ahead of VCU.
The tournament concludes with the final round Tuesday morning.
