Men’s Golf In Sixth Place After First Round Of 2014 Northeast Conference Championship

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Sacred Heart men's golf team finished the first round of the 2014 Northeast Conference Championship, held at the LPGA International Champions Course, in sixth place Saturday. Peter Ballo (Stamford, Conn.) and Ross Kronberg (New Canaan, Conn.) each carded three-over 75s on the day to tie for 11th place individually.

Ballo was one-over par on the front nine Saturday with a pair of birdies, but was two-over on the back nine. Kronberg was two-over at the turn with back-to-back bogeys on holes eight and nine, but was one-over on the back nine thanks to a birdie on the final hole. Jeff Cohen (Windham, N.H.) and A.J. Correia (Bedford, N.H.) each posted a nine-over 81 on the day, putting them in a tie for 29th individually.

The Pioneers had a team score of 312, 24 strokes over par. Sacred Heart is one stroke ahead of seventh-place Central Connecticut after the first round, and three strokes behind Robert Morris in fifth place. Bryant leads the team competition after posting a one-under 287 on Saturday. Fairleigh Dickinson is second at 11-over par, with LIU Brooklyn and Saint Francis U rounding out the top four.

The tournament concludes with the final round on Sunday.
