DARIEN, Conn. - Former Sacred Heart men's golfer Peter Ballo qualified for the 99th Met Open Golf Championship Monday at Wee Burn Country Club.
Ballo topped the leaderboard with a 68, the lowest score of 18 qualifiers who shot 75 or lower to qualify for the Met Open, held at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J. August 19-21. Ross Kronberg also qualified with a 74 on Monday. Earlier in the day Monday, Ballo carded a one-over 71 to tie for seventh after the opening round of the Connecticut Open Golf Championship at Rolling Hills Country Club in Wilton.
Ballo won the 2014 NEC Men's Golf individual title and qualified for the NCAA Championship.
