Men’s Golf Opens Fall Season At Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate
VERONA, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart men's golf team opened its fall schedule Sunday with two rounds of play at the Turning Stone Tiger Invitational at Turning Stone Resort.
The Pioneers opened the day with a team score of 341, 53 strokes over par. In the second round, Sacred Heart improved by 23 strokes to give it a team score of +73 through 36 holes. The Pioneers are 16 strokes behind Saint Peter's for ninth place. Missouri leads the tournament at +9, leading Cleveland State by five strokes. Detroit is third, followed by Villanova and Central Connecticut.
Jeff Cohen (Windham, N.H.) was the Pioneers' low-scorer on Sunday. After carding a first-round 85, Cohen shot a two-over 74 to close the day at +15 and tie for 31st. Will Smittle (Scarsdale, N.Y.) is 42nd after rounds of 79 and 82 put him in 42nd. Freshman Kyle Burke (West Sayville, N.Y.) finished the day tied for 43rd, with a second round five-over 77 putting him at +18. Curtis Quinn (Gloucester, Mass.) rounded out the Sacred Heart scoring group with a two-round score of +24, posting a four-over 76 in the second round.
The final round of the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate is on Monday.
