SOUTH KENT, Conn.— The Sacred Heart men's golf team placed 15th at the Hartford Hawks Invitational at Bull's Bridge Golf Club on Tuesday.
Sacred Heart finished with a team score of +45 in the three-round event, five strokes behind tournament host Hartford. UCF took the team title at 28-under par. Seton Hall and Connecticut rounded out the top three at 3-under and 2-under respectively.
Senior Connor Cunningham was the Pioneers top finisher in the crowded field of competition. Cunningham finished tied for 43rd at +6 and shot an even par in the final round. He was among the tournament leaders with 37 pars over the three rounds. Junior Hector Gutierrez tied for 71st, finishing 13-over par. Freshman Saptak Talwar made his first career start as a Pioneer, carding a 78 in the final round to finish 13-over par as well. Junior Alex Manner bounced back from round two with a 77 in the final round to tie for 85th at +16. Senior Curtis Quinn rounded out the Pioneers scoring group at 25-over par.
The Pioneers are back on the course at The Connecticut Cup at Ellington Ridge Country Club beginning Monday, October 9.
