Men's Golf Finishes Second at New England Championships

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Sacred Heart men's golf team finished in second place in the New England Division I Championships today, finishing eight strokes behind winner Connecticut and outpacing two Northeast Conference schools, Central Connecticut and Bryant.
UConn finished with a 586 total, followed by the Pioneers (594), Rhode Island (598), Hartford (603) and Boston College (607). Central finished sixth at 614 and Bryant was eighth with a 621 total.
Sophomore Leo Garcia followed up his first-round 70 on Saturday with a 75 today, finishing third in the medalist race with teammate Brad Neudorf with a 145 total. He finished just one stroke off the top spot. Neudorf had the low round of the day for the Pioneers with a two-under 70.
Freshman Josh Salah was the next lowest finisher for the Pioneers with a 150 total, after a second-round 73. He finished in 14th place. Andrew Strom finished in 23rd with a 154 score, while David Renski was 35th in the 60-man field with a 158.
