(Fairfield, CT) – Sacred Heart Men's Hockey senior Matt Gingera (Winnipeg, MB) has been named Travel Team USA Player of the Week by the Atlantic Hockey Association on Monday, November 28.
Gingera scored four goals and added an assist in three games this week, scoring at least one in all three contests. He jump started a 1-1-1 week for Sacred Heart, scoring the Pioneers' first goal on a stunning 7-6 upset over #8 Yale on Tuesday night. He added a goal and an assist in 3-2 loss Saturday afternoon to Niagara. The Pioneers assistant captain then helped lead the team back from a 4-1 third period deficit with two goals, including the game-tying goal, in a 4-4 tie with the Purple Eagles Sunday night.
Gingera now leads the team with seven goals and 11 points and has moved into third place overall in the AHA goals race, one behind Air Force's Kyle DeLaurell and Cole Gunner.
